North Star Core is made by North Star Carbon & Impact, a Certified B Corporation and a US-based software company on a mission to make credible, audit-ready carbon accounting something any organization can do.
Where we come from
North Star was founded by sustainability experts with more than two decades of experience building greenhouse gas inventories for large organizations. Doing that work over and over revealed a pattern. The methodology was rigorous, but it stayed locked inside expensive engagements and software built for the largest companies. Smaller businesses were left to guess, or to pay for help they could not sustain.

Josh Prigge
Co-Founder
Josh spent 14 years conducting GHG emissions inventories for companies before co-founding North Star. His work has been featured in Forbes, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, and Triple Pundit, and he has spoken at sustainability events around the world. He holds an MA in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development and an MBA, and is a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor, LEED Green Associate, and GRI certified. He also hosts the Carbon Accounting and Management Podcast.

Chris Barzman
Co-Founder
Chris spent years running GHG inventories as a consultant with Sustridge and served as President of the Sustainable Tourism Association of Hawaii. He came up through the travel industry, from valet roles at Hilton and Marriott to a regional manager position at Expedia leading a team of 20. He holds a Master's in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development and a B.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications, with study abroad at Oxford, Deakin, and Sungkyunkwan. He co-hosts the Carbon Accounting and Management Podcast.

Mike Wakeland
Co-Founder
Mike is an entrepreneur and executive with more than 20 years building and scaling organizations across the private and nonprofit sectors, including several international companies. He came to North Star through Sustridge, where he saw companies struggling with manual, hard-to-scale carbon inventories and set out to pair that expertise with technology. A graduate of Indiana University in Public Affairs, he focuses on closing the gap between sustainability knowledge and business execution.
